Horticultural selection from Ceanothus gloriosus. 'Heart's Desire' is desirable, dense groundcover 6"-12" high and spreading as much as 5' across. the dark green leaves are attractive and it grows fast. Blooms are blue and darker than other Ceanothus gloriosus cultivars. It is an excellent choice for coastal gardens, but needs some partial shade and a little extra water inland.
Horticultural selection C. foliosus x C. greseus: origin = cuttings (1993) north coast Bodega Bay; intro Cal Flora Nursery 1995 Tolerates almost any soil type. Prefers sun in coastal sites, and part shade in inland sites. Selected by phil Van soelen from a Heart's Desire Beach in Marin County.
