I have been designing gardens in the Bay Area since receiving a masters in landscape architecture from Harvard University in 2002. I extended my university training working with the Golden Gate Parks Conservancy, Diablo Valley College field seminars, Oaktown Nursery, and with ecologists in the Sierra Nevada. I received a qualification in water efficient landscapes (QWEL)in 2020, and CNPS Native Plant Landscaper certification in 2024. My focus is on gardens that connect people to nature, helping both to thrive. I do not work in a particular style, but think of my projects as living, evolving sculptures. With careful attention to materials, and by incorporating practical considerations like views, maintenance paths, and places to sit, I design gardens that express their vitality each day, while they develop over many years. I am always available for consultations.
